Pruna AI video: when an API makes sense

Understand Pruna AI video models, API integration work and browser-based generation before choosing how to create your next clip.

Kadenly

Pruna AI provides video models and an API. That matters if you are building a product or need to automate generation. If your immediate task is to make one clip from a photograph, an API is also a software integration project you may not need.

The official P-Video documentation describes text, image and audio-conditioned generation with asynchronous prediction requests. Pruna’s model catalogue also lists separate video editing, animation, replacement and avatar products. These names describe different operations. Finding a replacement model in the catalogue does not mean every Pruna video request accepts a source movie and two faces.

Read the input contract before the headline

For a one-photo scene, check whether the selected endpoint accepts your image format, what happens to its framing, which durations it supports and whether audio is generated or supplied as a condition. An audio-conditioned request is not automatically a lip-sync guarantee. Write down the output you need: for example, one vertical clip with the subject’s face visible and no speech. Then compare that brief with the endpoint documentation.

Pruna’s pages can show different limits for different models or releases. This guide deliberately does not turn a headline speed or per-second rate into a performance promise. Check the current endpoint and official pricing before estimating a job. Documentation was reviewed on October 16, 2026; we have not benchmarked the API against Kadenly.

The integration work around a generation

A usable application needs more than the initial request. It has to upload or host permitted inputs, keep its API key on the server, save a prediction identifier, follow processing to completion, and handle failed or timed-out requests without charging twice. The result also needs a delivery plan: if a provider URL expires, a completed job should not turn into a broken download in the customer’s history.

Retries deserve particular care. A page refresh should resume the existing prediction rather than start another paid attempt. Keep provider cost, your own retail quote and a completed creative result separate in the job record. Those distinctions make billing and support much easier to explain.

When to use the browser instead

For an occasional creative shot, Kadenly’s Image to Video exposes the connected models, supported settings and credit quote in a browser. It does not currently offer Pruna or P-Video in its model selector. Choose Pruna’s own API if that model or automated integration is the requirement; choose a browser workflow when uploading, directing and reviewing one clip is the whole task.

If you are comparing tools for a finished narrated short rather than a raw generated shot, read the Everygen workflow guide. It addresses production scope rather than API implementation.
